It was a lot on Nic to write the recaps, so after several missed recap sessions, Chloe had picked up the baton.
The party, after some standard slice-of-life adventures, made their way to a different island; where the inhabitants would be turned into rage filled, thoughtless and violent husks at the periodic roar of some unseen monster. This island was ruled by a tyrant, a Dwarf who used a Bugbear goon squad to keep residents in check, and his advisor, the weasly Mitchly. The Dwarf would use gladitorial violence to stem the influence of the roar (he secretly had a peadant that kept him safe). Garthor taught the BugBears the joy of sport through wrestling, and Vessariel worked to trick the Dwarf tyrant into distrusting his own people, while the whole party also helped some people escape. They met the gladitor Nesdaylnn, nicknamed Blood-Eyes; a hulk of a DragonBorne female. Vessariel's tattoo also grew with magical glyphs and seemed to stop her after a direct, and serious comman, from Garthor to stop attacking the Dwarf tyrant. After the killing of the roaring beast, and the death of the tyrant Dwarf, Vessariel left Mitchly in charge with a warning: She is watching him, and if he trys anything, he will die. (Rombee shot him unconscious earlier). Here's a quick recap of that final session specifically:
The party followed Garthor to the center of the island to find the source of the mind-controlling roar, only to be surprise attacked by big skull monster! Everyone but Rombee and Vessariel were taken by rage. After the monster was defeated, Wisteria quickly dug around for the heart crystal in the monsters body. She found it to then.....pass out from a vision and fall face first into monster guts. Rombee, as usual, picked the monster for unique bones, and Vessariel continued smashing its skull in a rage, until she tuckered out. Garthor had a heart-to-heart with Nesdaylnn on how she couldn't have prevented the sluaghter from the initial roars, back years ago.
All the Shamblers turned back into people; although malnourished people. Mitchly is still alive, though lacking an arm; he is leading the rebuilding efforts. And the Dwarf Tyrant is dead. When the party returns to the tunnels and see Rain, she seems possed by rage. Wisteria has some internal thoughts about Rain and her connection to the artifacts they have been recovering.
The party finds out that Rain has destroyed more of the statue at the bottom of the well. Wisteria checks on Rain and finds out she has no ounce of divine energy at all, not even a sliver. And worse, the heart pieces are driving Wisteria mad (although in burts).
Vessariel and Wisteria do some investigating while the others return to the house and outside. Wisteria finds an old tattered cloth in a hole in the floor...it looked like someone was digging before her, and she finds the cloth has the same goat symbol the weird magic paper has as well as the mage in the book. This freaks out Wisteria, as she and Vessariel make their way to Alain.
But, they find Zigfried first. Looking different too. He looks younger and more elegant. His eyes have become two different colors. Alain is not very happy with us - assuming Rain and Zigfried's weird behavior is because of the party meddling with the artifacts. Zigfried doesn't remember digging at the tabard Wisteria and Vessariel found just moments before. Alain, after seeing these weird changes, is once again reserved, and demands the party stops going to other islands...which...they rebuke. He, once again, gives in to fate.
